Kingston Street – A Poem by Julie Hogg

kingston-street

Walking together can be so easy,
it needs an open heart, an open mind,
a kindness which lovingly and freely
reverently pauses, choosing to find
a rhythm, a like-minded soul who holds
out their hand to compassion and content
and attention and time, who then unfolds
the other. Did it matter where we went?
And you listened with your sharp alert eyes,
giving the gift of your gaze on my face,
no thought to half-hearted words or goodbyes,
you devoted your self, moved by my pace.

Right here, right now I am walking with you,
the rest of our lives we are waltzing through.
